TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC ADVICE SERVICES: TRAINING EXPERTISE TO OTHER LABORATORIES

The European Union Reference Laboratory (EURL) offers comprehensive training programs at CISA-INIA/CSIC aimed at disseminating knowledge about African Swine Fever (ASF) to the National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) of the EU and other official laboratories of EU candidate Member States, as well as neighbouring countries within the EU scope. These courses, both short and long in duration, focus on transferring expertise in ASF diagnosis, with a particular emphasis on the ASF diagnostic tests available at the EURL.

The schedule of the training courses usually includes hands-on exercises combined with theoretical lectures. These sessions cover various aspects of the disease, including its history, epidemiology, control measures, and fundamental aspects of ASF diagnosis with special emphasis to the interpretation of the results. A set of practical information which includes copies of the lectures, laboratory practises results, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant bibliography on ASF is provided to all participants in a digital format.
